Next stop was another amazing part of Myanmar. Inle Lake was full of great experiences and more amazing people.
Went for a little walk when we first arrived. Love seeing more local life. People doing their laundry in the local waterway.
Went for a bike ride with Heather and we had to compete with the cows for road space.
It was fun just riding through all the local villages. Seeing what life is like.
We came across some kids playing soccer.
Heather and I decided to jump in on the game. They wore us out.
Next morning we woke up early to explore Inle Lake. We where surprised how cold it was in the morning . We where freezing on the way to the boat.
There was this great morning fog on the lake.
Coming up on a local fisherman
He loved working the camera for us.
This headpiece was getting Matt all fired up.
I always wanted to see these ladies with the rings on the neck. But I’ll be honest I felt at Inle Lake they where mostly out there just for display. They where really nice though and seemed happy to have their picture taken.
Love this guy. One of the tourist stops we decided to wander back deeper into the village and came across this guy. He was making jewelry and invited us inside his home. Love his smile.
Luckily the day we where on the lake the local market was going on. Which only happens every 5th day. So I was so pumped about it. I love the local markets.
This is where we stopped for lunch. We had been wanting to try Mohinga. So what better place than from the local market. Plus it was only 50 cents a bowl.
We grabbed a seat with the locals and enjoyed our mohinga and some stemmed rice. 4 of us ate for $2 soup and rice
Another stop was at this weaving place. This lady was working with lotus flower. I couldn’t believe the process.
Love the local homes on the lake.
There was also a local place where cigarettes where being made.
Matt and Amber dove right in.
The next day was Xmas day. Time to load up the bikes with gifts and give a local monastery a taste of Xmas. We had so much fun delivering gifts to the kids. Best Xmas day!!!
It was a long bike ride. About 8 miles to be exact. Which doesn’t sound like much. But being loaded down with gifts on not the best bikes made it a slow ride. But so worth it!!
The kids where the best. They loved the gifts. We all played together. What a great day. They even sang to us to Thank us for everything. When we should be the ones thanking them They gave us more than we could ever give them.
We got them a couple skate boards. Not sure if they had ever been on skateboard before.
Look how great these kids are about making their beds.
The girls had some great art work. i was impressed with their skills.
On the way back you see more local life. People always working hard.
Came across some novice monks chopping wood.
For dinner we needed a brake from the local food. Star Flowers was the perfect place. Great Italian food and stone oven pizza. The owner was so awesome. He even gave us a tour of the kitchen.
Love the street signs.
This lady was so awesome. While the other where getting massages I roamed around the village. This lady kept waving me over wanting me to have tea with her. I finally gave in and joined her. She was so funny and really put a smile on my face.
Next morning we had to get up early to make it to the airport. Loved seeing the monks walking around the village collecting heir offerings from the locals.
